Japanese Patriotic March 1938-1945
Aikoku Koshinkyoku or Patriotic March was a song used during the Second World War for occupied territories in Asia replacing that country’s national anthem. This was in part of the ‘Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere’ – an unsuccessful Pan-Asian project led by the Japanese Empire. Civilians under puppet governments, particularly the young, were required to learn the song.
