The signing of the agreement being a serious, solemn act, in the photo, we can spot some really excited officers standing on tables and furniture trying to sneak a peek and actually witness the signing of the Treaty of Versailles at the end of the First World War.

The treaty itself was highly controversial, with many parties being displeased with what was agreed upon. Germany had to admit they were the sole instigator of war and it also had to disown some of its colonies, among other things.
